OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) -- A desperate Olathe woman has called in a professional pet-finder company to find her lost dog.
"It's honestly been the worst four days of my life," said Elizabeth Lovell. "She's my baby."
Lovell was running in the Garmin Half Marathon on Saturday. Her mother and 9-month-old puppy, Dottie, were there to watch her.
A huge tent was knocked over that stormy morning, and Dottie, a boxer and pit bull mix that Lovell rescued in December, got scared.
She jerked free of both her leash and her collar and took off.
Lovell turned to social media and put up fliers in an effort to get Dottie back home. But those efforts have been unsuccessful thus far.
So she contacted Karin Tarqwin of Lost Pet Professionals. The Nebraska woman has been featured on Animal Planet.
For more than $600, Tarqwin has brought in her dogs to track Dottie's scent. Kade, who has been working with Tarqwin for nine years, sniffed Dottie's collar and is now working to track the scent.
While Tarqwin is optimistic about finding Dottie, Lovell hopes that someone will see the report on KCTV5 and return her pooch to her.
She said she just hopes that Dottie is inside a warm home and with someone who found her and doesn't realize her rightful owner is desperately looking for her.
"I really appreciate you keeping her safe. I just want her back," Lovell said. "No questions asked."
If you have any information about Dottie, email Lovell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
