JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) - A new superintendent began work this week in the Geary County School District.

Dr. Corbin Witt was selected as the 20th person to lead USD 475, holding both a Doctorate and a Masters in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Elementary Education, all from Kansas State University.

Witt was formerly the Executive Director of School Improvement for the Salina School District. He has served as a teacher, principal and acting superintendent for various schools during his career.

"I just want to make sure that we are moving forward to do what’s best for kids," said Witt. "That’s the number one thing that we need to make sure is that everything we do has a kids first philosophy and that we move forward for those students and make sure their education is the best it can possibly be."

Witt is replacing former Superintendent Ron Walker who retired on June 30th.
