TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- You might need to find a new place to sit to watch the Fiesta Mexicana parade. Organizers changed the route this year because of construction on Kansas Ave.
It'll kick off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at the corner of 4th & Kansas and head south to 6th Avenue. There, it will turn left and go towards Quincy Street, where it makes a right turn and proceeds to 10th Ave. Another right turn and the parade heads toward Harrison St. and another right. One last right turn at 6th Street and the parade completes the circle when it makes a left back onto Kansas Ave. (See map below)
In another change, all parade drivers will need to have their licenses scanned. Organizers said the Topeka Police Dept. requested they do it for safety's sake.
Check-in and line-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Kansas Ave/ between 1st and 3rd Streets Entrants will get a placard there as well.
