TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Crosswind Petfoods Inc. is moving into the former Strathman Sales Co. building in Topeka. In February of next year, production is expected to start and applicants are eager to be apart of it.
26-year-old Jeff Adkins says he moved to Topeka a few months ago for a new start and a new job.
He and several others attended a job fair at Ramada Inn for Crosswind Petfoods Inc., a new pet food manufacturing plant set to open in Topeka in 2014.
"I figured why not? I'd give it a shot," says Adkins.
Bob Niehues is the Executive Vice President of Crosswind Petfoods Inc. He says the company is looking to hire 31 people.
"We have different positions, that take to run the facility is going to be everything from, supervisors, to quality assurance people, to people that will operate the machinery, people who will package the products, so we are looking for a broad array of talent, to help us run the installation," said Niehues.
Adkins says finding a job can be tough at times, but he is determined to do what it takes to land a position at Crosswind Petfoods Inc.
"Any position right now to get me in! I'm just hoping I can get this job and start something new," said Adkins.
Adkins and other applicants will find out if they were accepted for a position with Crosswind Petfoods Inc. in January.
A pet food and treat contract manufacturer with locations across Kansas is expanding to Topeka and is looking for employees.
Those interested in a job at the plant can attend a job and information fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ramada Inn at 420 SE 6th Avenue.
Applications are available at the Topeka Workforce Center located at 1430 SW Topeka Blvd prior to the fair.
Professional attire is suggested.
