New Leader Takes Over Kansas National Guard

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- A decorated guardsman is stepping down at the Kansas National Guard giving way to a new leader as Brigadier General.

The changing of command ceremony was held today on at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard at Forbes Field.
Former Brigadier General Erin Peck had served the position since February of 2011. Filling that role will now be the new Brigadier General Robert Windham Junior who was the Assistant Division Commander of the 35th infantry division.

Windham feels the National Guard has a lot to be thankful for because of the now retired general Peck.

Both retired General Eric Peck and current Brigadier General Robert Windham have earned bronze star medals.
