TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The City of Topeka will slash one more job so it can comply with 2014 budget reductions, said City Manager Jim Colson late Friday afternoon.

Cutting the part-time position in the city's legal department is expected to save nearly $50,000 next year.

Earlier this year, the city also eliminated an office assistant slot at the Topeka Zoo as part of its guest service transition to Friends of the Zoo. The city said it saved over $43,000 on that move.

The city noted the affected employee was able to transition to a new role, with equal pay, in Housing & Neighborhood Development.
