TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Over a 1,000 Westar customers were left without power after a large outage struck north Topeka on Tuesday. Power was restored about 6:30 p.m. according to a tweet from @WestarEnergy.
Around 3:00 p.m., nearly 1,500 customers were without power, according to the power company's outage map with a vast majority of them concentrated in the northern part of the city. Three other outage were listed, but each of them affected less than 50 customers.
A company spokesperson told 13News during the outage said technicians were on the scene of the outage, but had not identified the cause. The company still hasn't said what caused the outage.
