FORT RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) - The smell of barbeque filled the air Tuesday evening at Fort Riley.

Nearly one thousand people were on hand for the USO No Dough Dinner at Moon Lake. The evening was packed with food and fun for soldiers and their families, including fishing, kids activities, and a whole lot of ribs.

"We couldn’t do these events without our great partners like Dillons and their parent company Kroger," said USO Director Jill Iwen. "Dillons has world class customers throughout the state of Kansas who donated the ribs to our soldiers and their families. And not only that, but the employees themselves came out to serve and to grill the ribs for them. So what a great event of bringing everybody together for a wonderful evening."

Dillons customers at store locations in Manhattan, Junction City, Topeka and Salina donated a total of 340 slabs of ribs for the event.
