TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka Police officers say a man found walking naked Wednesday afternoon down Gage Boulevard was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
But not before giving an eyeful to drivers along the busy street.
Viewers contacted 13 News to report a man jogging in the street near SW 10th around 3:30 p.m. in the middle of a heavy rain shower. They did a double take when they realized the man was unclothed.
Topeka Police officers arrived on the scene within minutes and took the man into custody.
Lt. Chuck Haggard told 13 News the man was taken to the hospital for treatment. He says the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
Haggard went on to say that finding people walking naked along a street is "not as uncommon as you might think." He says the reports usually involved someone in a state of excited delirium, linked to drug use.
A minor fender bender was reported around SW 10th and Gage at the same time, but Haggard said officers on the scene believed it was just a coincidence and that it did not appear linked to the man's presence.
