TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - One Topeka celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. ended on a high note Monday.
Tonya Boyd-Cannon of New Orleans lent her voice to MLK Day events at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center. Families also enjoyed performances by Topeka's Trinity Music, Topeka High School Jazz Band and the Trans4mers Community MLK Choir.
The event brought a musical finale to the center's week-long celebration which challenged children to "transform" Dr. King's dream.
The event incorporated community service by replacing Monday's admission fee with donations of diapers for the Junior League's Diaper Depot or non-perishable foods for Harvester's food bank.
