Motorcycle Drag Race Leads Police On Pursuit

Officers of the Topeka Police Department were led on a chase after they noticed two motorcycles drag racing.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Officers of the Topeka Police Department were led on a chase after they noticed two motorcycles drag racing.

The officers were patrolling normally near 33rd and Girard when they attempted to stop one of the motorcycles at 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

After police attempted to stop one of the motorcycles, the rider attempted to elude officers by leading them on a pursuit.

The rider went off road in Betty Phillips Park near SE Irvingham and Girard St. in an attempt to lose the officers. The rider lost control of the bike in the grass.

The rider led police on a short foot pursuit through the creek near the park in the area of 33rd and Girard.

Tommy Lee Marshall of Topeka was arrested for felony attempt to elude, reckless driving and driving while suspended
