TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Senator Jerry Moran made his way to Topeka Tuesday.

He began the day speaking at the Topeka Chamber of Commerce "Federal Forum" breakfast.

He updated business leaders on some of the issues facing congress, including budget cuts.

Later, he visited Forbes Field which is a final contender to house new air force tankers.

He met with leaders there to discuss issues surrounding the decision...

Forbes and Wichita's Mcconnell Air Force Base are both on the short list, something Moran says is a great opportunity for Kansas.

"We have met at numerous opportunities with Department of Defense officials promoting both Mcconnell and Forbes as a site for the tankers and if we're successful, if we win on the merits, it means maintaining the jobs we have here at Forbes, and some expenditures, construction and jobs related to improvements I would expect at Forbes," said Moran.

The Air Force will pay a visit to Forbes for a final site view later this month.
