Missing Woman Found By Kansas River, Was Stuck In Mud

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A woman reported missing Sunday night was found Monday morning along the Kansas River.

The woman was located along the river near the 200 block of N Kansas. According to police she was stuck in the mud when they found her.

She was taken to a local hospital "code green," meaning she could need medical treatment, but that the situation wasn't considered urgent.

The woman was identified as "Betty" by a spokesperson from the Eventide Convalescent Center Inc, where she is a resident.

According to the Eventide spokesperson, Betty was taken to Mt. Caramel Baptist Church Sunday via a church bus. When it was time to go home, she said she did not want to ride the bus. The driver planned to take other church goers home on the bus and return to pick up Betty for a separate trip.

When the driver returned to church to pick up Betty, she was gone. According to the Eventide spokesperson Betty called a cab, and never made it back to her residence.
