(WIBW) - Emporia State University officials say missing student Emilee Irsik has been located in Germany.

Irsik's mother, Sherry Irsik, stated in a news release from ESU that she spoke with her 20-year-old daughter by phone around noon local time. Emilee Irsik is with authorities in Germany and the family is working with authorities to be reunited with her.

"We are so grateful to everyone who shared in our concern and who said a prayer," Sherry Irsik said.

A German newspaper reports a British Airways employee recognized Emilee when she tried to buy a plane ticket a few hours before a flight to the U.S.

Emilee Irsik was last seen October 20th boarding a flight to Germany from Wichita. She did not return October 26th as planned and no one had heard from her.

Irsik is a Wichita native. Her parents now live in North Carolina.

The family asks for privacy as they await their reunion.
