TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Milford Lake will remain under a blue green algae warning following test results from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
This weeks results came back with higher cell counts of blue green algae across Milford Lake with four out of the five locations tested showing cell counts above the warning level.
According to the KDHE website, warnings are issued when cell counts are greater than or equal to 100,000 cells per milliliter.
This is the second straight week the lake has been under a full warning.
Under a warning bodily contact with the water is prohibited.
There are no restrictions on pleasure boating and fishing; however people are asked to avoid highly concentrated areas of blue green algae.
KDHE will collect samples again on Monday to continue monitoring conditions.
