TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- A very special guest speaker will be on hand, May 17 during a joint high school graduation ceremony.
Thursday morning, Topeka USD-501 announced that First Lady Michelle Obama will be guest speaker at a joint graduation ceremony of Topeka West, Highland Park, Hope Street Acadamy, Capital City and Topeka High Schools.
Unlike previous years, when each high school had its own commencement, this year, there will be just one commencement for all seniors.
The First Lady will be in town to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of the historic Brown v. Board of Education ruling.
Topeka Public Schools said that this is the only high school graduation the First Lady will speak at this year.
