TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- Memorial day weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer, which means lots of road trips and travel.

AAA's travel forecast says more than 3 million Americans are projected to travel over the Memorial Day weekend, 12-thousand more than last year 2013.

Most travelers will be on the road and Kansans are paying on average $3.43 a gallon, compared to $3.92 last year.

Air fare, hotel prices and car rental prices are up slightly this year.

The top 5 destinations for Kansans this year are Branson, Orlando, Yellowstone, Kansas City and Dallas.
