HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW) -- Jackson Co. Attorney Shawna Miller wants to try the Topeka teen arrested in connection with the abuse of a 7 month-old baby over the weekend tried as an adult. She also indicated the infant is still in critical condition and has been placed in a medically-induced coma.
Koylen McKinney, 17, has been charged with aggravated battery, child abuse, and child endangerment. He was arrested on Saturday, a day after police responded to a medical call to a Holton apartment complex, 110 S. Pennsylvania Ave.
When medics arrived that Friday they found the baby unresponsive and having difficulty breathing. The child was flown to a Kansas City hospital.
The next hearing for McKinney was scheduled for May 15.
