TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- The 2014 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and related agencies appropriations bill includes over $200 million in upgrades to McConnell Air Force Base.
Senators Jerry Moran, Pat Roberts and Representative Mike Pompeo announced Friday the bill passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
The $219 million upgrades will accommodate the new KC-46A tankers. The figure is $27 million more than the May estimate of $192 million.
McConnell Air Force Base is the main operating base for replacing the
KC-135R tanker aircraft with KC-46A's beginning in 2016.
