After leading police on a Sunday morning chase, a Mayetta woman is now behind bars.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says around 8:36 a.m. Sunday, 52 year old Patricia Peay of Mayetta, passed a Sheriff's Deputy at a high rate of speed at US Highway 75 and 150th road heading south.

Peay failed to yield to officers attempting to stop the vehicle. A Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper administered stop sticks at 35th and Highway 75 in Shawnee County.

The vehicle then came to a stop at Soldier Creek Bridge on highway 75.

Peay was arrested and booked into Jackson County Jail for felony fleeing and eluding an officer, reckless driving, transporting an open container, and driving under the influence. Her bond is pending.
