Manhattan Woman Beaten And Robbed In Broad Daylight

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW)- Riley County Police are looking for a suspect they say attacked and robbed a Manhattan woman in alleyway.

It happened around 1:30 PM Saturday, December 8, 2012 as Jessica Farmer, 61, was walking in an alley along the 900 block of Osage Street, between Osage Street and Leavenworth Street. Farmer told police she was attacked and her purse stolen.

The assailant reportedly struck her with a blunt object and fled from the scene. Farmer was transported to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan with a possible head injury.

The victim described the suspect as thinly built and approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. She was unable to provide the suspect's race. The person was last seen wearing a black jacket, possibly leather, and a black hat.

Area residents contacted during the investigation reported seeing a suspicious man in the area before to the robbery.
