MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - When looking for a place to live, most might consider the east or west coast, but one town here in Kansas is proving to many that America’s heartland is a great place to live.
The Little Apple is making big strides according to a recent survey conducted by the real estate research site Movoto. Out of 140 selected cities, Manhattan came in sixth place for a combination of its nightlife, young population, and other criteria.
"I’ve lived here my whole life and I love it," said Logan Clark, a freshman at Kansas State University. "A lot of people, you know, want to get out of their home town, but when you live in such a great place with such a school I think it’s great that it’s being recognized."
K-State, Aggieville, and a rapidly growing economy helped boost Manhattan into the survey’s top 10, but just talk to the area residents and you’ll hear that the best part about the Little Apple is the people.
"I think it just shows how friendly the Manhattan community is," said K-State Public Service Administrator Tara Pfaff. "I know everyone always comments on how they think everyone in Manhattan and K-State is so friendly. It’s just a really welcoming place I think."
Despite its continued growth over the years, Manhattan appears to be doing it up big while still maintaining it's small town charm.
