MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Starting March 31 through April 4, the city of Manhattan will have free haul away of yard waste at their disposal. Local trash contractors will be involved in this service for most waste items.
City crews will be picking up yard waste, branches and limbs only. All items must be in yard waste paper bags. Waste in plastic bags will not be collected. Paper bags can be purchased at local retail stores.
Yard waste, tree limbs and branches must be set apart from other trash and debris.
Do not use rope to tie branches together, put them in boxes or other containers, etc. Scrap lumber must be placed in a pile for pickup by refuse contractors.
Refuse contractors will be responsible for all trash and debris. They will pick up items during their normal route schedule and only for their customers. If residents do not have a contract for services with one of the participating firms, they will be responsible for their own disposal.
