TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka police say a liquor store employee is dead after being hit with a blunt object, during a robbery attempt.
Police are only describing the victim as a 41-year-old male and say they do not want to release further details, out of respect for the family, during the holiday.
The attempted robbery happened around 2 p.m. Saturday at Hudson Liquor, which is at the Hudson Crossing at S.E. 15th & Adams. Police say they were called there in reference to a shooting, but there was no shooting.
Police say when they arrived the cash register was open. Police are only describing the victim as an adult male.
Officers are searching for the suspect, who got away on foot. He is described as a while male, in his 20s, wearing all blue, a stocking cap, and pajama-style pants.
Police are speaking with witnesses.
