TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The man police were searching for after one person died following an early Saturday morning shooting has turned himself in.

He is 22-year-old William D. Spangler. He turned himself into police at 9 a.m. Saturday morning without incident. He was booked into Shawnee County Department of Corrections for premeditated first-degree murder.

Police were dispatched shortly before 2:30 a.m. to 901 SW Tyler to investigate a report of yelling and possible gunshots.

Upon arrival, police found a Hispanic man in his early 20s suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Police identify the victim as 22-year-old Faustino Martinez II of Wichita.

The Shawnee County Jail says Spangler was booked in twice earlier this month-March 3rd for felony aggravated battery, and March 7th on a city noise complaint. He was free on bond.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information should call detectives at 368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
