TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Shawnee County Sheriff Office has identified the man hit and killed by a train last Saturday as Brandon Toler, 30, of Topeka.
Toler was running alongside the railroad when he was struck by a southbound Amtrak train, around 12:40 a.m. January 18.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the train crew. They reported that they saw the man running alongside the railroad before he was hit.
Crew members signaled their horn, activated emergency brakes, and came to a complete stop.
Deputies located the subject north of University along the west side of the tracks.
The man was transported to a local hospital by AMR, where he later died.
No passengers on the train were injured during the incident.
