Man Convicted In Topeka, Leavenworth Bank Robberies

(WIBW) - A Kansas City man has been convicted for robbing banks in Topeka and Leavenworth.

55-year-old Charles Shaw was found guilty of robbing Main Street Credit Union and Citizens National Bank in Leavenworth on Nov. 24, 2010 and Feb. 14, 2011 respectively, and of a December 30, 2011 holdup at Educational Credit Union, 901 SW Topeka Blvd.

Shaw was also convicted of attempting to rob Educational Credit Union again in February 2012. He was caught when he fell and broke his ankle trying to run away.

He was acquitted on a charge of robbing the Kaw Valley State Bank in Topeka Oct. 10, 2010.

Shaw faces more than 20 years in prison when he's sentenced February 19. He could also be ordered to pay a fine up to $250,000.
