Man Convicted In 2010 Murder Enters Guilty Plea

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Sentencing is set for one person convicted in a 2010 murder outside Topeka West High School.

Coty Newman pleaded guilty to first degree murder and attempted second degree murder Friday. He will be sentenced July 19.

He and three others were charged in the shooting death of Matthew Mitchell.

Co-defendant Austin Tabor -- the alleged trigger man -- will be sentenced on April 5.

Samantha Carroll will be sentenced on April 11. Samantha Hochard was sentenced last fall to serve nearly five years in prison.
