Man Arrested In Connection With Junction City Murder

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) - A man is behind bars charged with first degree murder and aggravated robbery stemming from a September 7th shooting death.

Anthony Stephan Nichols was arrested just after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11.

Police responded early Saturday morning to 10th & Webster on reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, a Geary County Sheriff's Deputy found a man lying in the intersection suffering from a gunshot wound. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the suspect, 37 year old Anthony Nixon was deceased.

Police were told that there was an altercation in the area earlier in the morning, prior to the shooting.

Nichols is being held at the Geary County Detention Center without bond pending his first court appearance.
