Local Students Win Congressional Art Competition

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--Several talented area students were winners in a high school arts competition.

Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins announced the winners of the 2013 Congressional Art Competition for Kansas's Second Congressional District on Thursday.

First place went to Jared Scrinopskie for his piece titled "Dreaming". He attends Topeka West High School.

Second place went to Lawrence High School's Molly Lockwood for her piece "Self-Portrait".

Topeka West's Patrick Lacy placed third for his piece "Ashlar".

Fourth place went to Rachel Woolery from Lawrence High for "Her Sea's Lost Urn".

The People's Choice-Online Winner was Veniese Razo from Washburn Rural High School for "Untitled".

The competition is sponsored by the U.S. House Of Representatives to encourage and recognize the artistic abilities of young kids.
