Local H.S. Basketball Coach In Running For Best In Nation

OLPE, Kan. (WIBW) -- A local high school basketball coach is in the running for tops in the country.

Jesse Nelson, the coach of the Olpe Girls High School basketball team is one of the ten finalists vying to be "USA Today's Best Girls Basketball Coach for 2014.

Nelson has coached the Olpe Eagles for the past 35 years. In the time he's compiled a 767-96 record, winning three state championships and finishing second twice.

Region 3: Tim Miller, Hazel Green (Ala.), wild card

Region 4: Lisa Patterson, West Holmes (Millersburg, Ohio)
