Local Dance Studio Places In Competition

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--A local dance studio brought home the hardware after a dance competition in Denton, TX.

Students from The Dance Spot Studio competed in the American Dance/Drill Team National Competition...

The dancers brought home several awards including:
-Junior duet: 1st runner-up
-Junior small ensemble: prop 2nd runner-up, jazz 1st runner-up and lyrical 1st Place
-Intermediate Team: Novelty 1st runner-up
-Senior Team: Novelty 1st place, Contemporary 6th runner-up
-Elementary Team: Small Ensemble 1st place

The Intermediate and Senior Squads also received the Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence, which is given to those teams entering at least 3 routines and receiving scores of 90 or above from every judge.

Overall National Champion Awards are given to the highest scores in the division, with all routines entered scoring 93 or above from every judge. The Intermediate squad placed 6th runner-up and the Senior squad placed 8th runner-up.

The Dance Spot is a small studio with students from Wabaunsee and Osage Counties.
