TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Legislators met for lunch today to learn about the faith journey in relation to state legislation.
The annual "Legislative Event for Advocacy in Faith" was held Monday at Topeka First United Methodist Church.
As part of this year's theme of "seeking racial justice", workshops touched on current public issues such as human trafficking in Kansas and the first Americans.
"This group believes that we can all live peacefully together and we embrace our Native American brothers and sisters, and our sisters from Mexico and our sisters and brothers that have been here longer that I have that are African American," said Aurelie Sanders, Chair for Legislative Event for Advocacy in Faith.
Legislators also heard from key-note speaker Leonard Zeskind who is an American human rights advocate and president of the Institute for Research and Education of Human Rights.
