LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW)__Lawrence held its 150th anniversary to remember those killed in Quantrill's Raid.
Hundreds of people flooded South Park to hear the sounds of the Lawrence Band and to hear speeches about the bloodiest event to happen on Kansas soil during the Civil War.
Quantrill and his confederate supporters came from Missouri to burn, kill and rob Lawrence and its people for being abolitionists.
The names of those lost in the raid were read along with a recount from a survivor.
The city provided ice cream for attendees and books on the event were up for sale as well.
