Lawrence Christmas Stabbing Suspect Charged | Victim Identified

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW/AP) -- A suspect in the deadly Christmas Day stabbing at an apartment complex in Lawrence has been charged with murder.

According to the Lawrence Police Dept. (LPD), Marci Deshayna Cully was arrested on a lone count of second-degree murder. She is being held on $150,000; her preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 31.

The 27 year-old is accused of stabbing Wayne Francisco. Investigators attributed the attack to a domestic incident.

Police say the responded to reports of a stabbing at the apartment complex, in the 4300 block of West 24th Place, around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When they arrived, they found victim suffering from critical injuries. Officers and other medical personnel fought to save the the victim, but could not.

Officers found the suspect at the scene and took her in for questioning. After the interview and further investigation, she was arrested, charged, and taken to Douglas Co. Jail.

Douglas Co. District Court Judge James George appointed Courtney Henderson to represent Cully. Henderson did not immediately return a call seeking comment on Friday.
