LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ One Lawrence man is sentenced to prison and two others are awaiting court hearings after a string of burglaries from storage units around the city.
A judge this week sentenced 33-year-old Jacob P. Paine to three years in prison for his role in at least 20 burglaries this year. Police say the thieves got away with more than $77,000 in goods. Investigators believe most of the thefts were related to methamphetamine use.
Paine originally faced more than a dozen charges before he pleaded guilty last month to three felony burglary counts involving thefts from storage units at an apartment complex.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports (http://bit.ly/1bFCk84 ) two other men are scheduled for preliminary hearings on a dozen charges for their alleged roles in the burglaries.
