Kansas State, Ft. Riley Renew Partnership

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas State University officials and the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley will continue working together for common goals.

The entities renewed their partnership Wednesday in a ceremony at the Kansas State Alumni Center. It marks the fourth renewal since 2008 for the nation's only military to university community partnership.

KSU President Kirk Schulz says this is a great way for the faculty to work on projects that Fort Riley brings to them.

"They're all young people and they are all exploring and trying to achieve great things," Schulz said. "There's a lot of similarities between what we are trying to do with student athletes and what General Funk is trying to do to mold young men and women into being very effective soldiers and leaders and great citizens."

Schulz says it's been great seeing such a heavy military presence at all university sporting events as part of the partnership.
