TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Logan Elementary School nurse has earned a distinguished award for helping provide care for her students. Garrie Oppitz was named the 2014-15 school nurse of the year.
Oppitz, who has worked in the Seaman school district for 17 years, also served as the nurse over at Seaman High School.
Before becoming a nurse, she was a physical education teacher in the Royal Valley School District.
She will be presented with the award at the KSMO Annual Conference in Wichita this July. She'll also be recognized at the the National Association of School Nurses Conference later this year.
