TOPEKA, Kan. -- January is Kansas Radon Action Month and The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is already impacted by demand for radon test kits provided through the Kansas radon awareness program.

Some partners are reporting they have already run out of their kits. Availability status of the KDHE provided kits is available online at www.kdheks.cgov.

Originally 2,000 kits were distributed across the state and are free while they last.

KDHE's YouTube channel demonstrates how to use a radon test kit.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, trailing only smoking.
