Kansas Lady Was Oldest Female Working In Kansas And Celebrates 100th Birthday

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Mildred Golden has fond memories of waking up and going to work every morning.
"I wake up and I got to work," says Golden.

In fact, she worked at Mcdonald’s for 17 years. She started in the salad department before she became a door greeter. She worked until she was 94 years old and received the Oldest Female Working in the State of Kansas award.

"Well, it's surprising when you think about it," said her son, Jimmy Golden, while holding back tears of joy.

Her closest family members and friends gathered at Countryside United Methodist Church Saturday afternoon to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Many people believe diet and exercise is the secret to living long, however, Mildred has her own secret.

"I don't exercise. My only exercise is sewing and stuff like that," said Mildred Golden.

And this isn’t just a milestone birthday for Mildred Golden, she has also accomplished several of her own personal goals.

"She wanted to be able to meet her great-grandchildren. And she wanted to reach 100 years old. So, so far, we knocked those two out!," said Mildred's daughter-in-law, Patricia Golden.

Mildred is one amazing lady and her optimistic mood is always apparent.

“Well, I couldn’t feel any better!” said Mildred Golden.
