Kansas Highway Patrol Reports Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Activity

KHP personnel assisted 1,164 motorists over the holiday reporting period

The Kansas Highway Patrol reporting period for the holiday weekend ran from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2013.

During that time, the Patrol worked two fatal crashes, which resulted in two deaths. Neither of the fatal crashes were DUI-related.

Information compared to the Thanksgiving holiday periods with 2012.

There were 2 2103 fatalities, the same as 2012
No DUI related crashes down from 5 in 2012
20 DUI arrests five fewer than 2012
1,343 speeding citations fewer than the 1,568 in 2012
230 adult seatbelt citations slashed from 349 in 2012
and 34 child restrain citations, slightly lower than 39 issued in 2012
