TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The First Lady of Kansas is doing her part to support Toys for Tots this Christmas.

Mary Brownback donated 500 books to the Marine Corps' annual Toys for Tots drive. U.S. Marine Sgt. William Schneider and Gunnery Sgt. Max Coons visited Cedar Crest Thursday to pick up the donation.

The Scholastic book company donated the books to the Kansas Book Festival. The first lady has organized the September event the past two years.

Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys for children in need during the holidays.
