HOISINGTON, Kan. (KAKE)-- A Kansas child is currently listed in critical condition after being mauled by a pit bull Monday afternoon.
The attack happened shortly before 6 p.m. in 700 block of East 3rd Street in Hoisington. That's in Barton County.
According to Hoisington Police, a 4-year-old boy was playing in the backyard of a home when a neighbor's pit bull jumped the fence and attacked him.
The child was taken to a Barton County hospital, then transferred to Wichita due to the severity of his injuries.
The dog was later put down, and tested negative for rabies. Police say the neighbor is facing possible charges for having a vicious animal
