Kansans Catch Early March Madness

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__Basketball fans in Kansas seem to take it to another level in March.

Whether it's the Division II or D-I level, fans have high "hoops" hopes come this time of year.

KU fan Mary Chambers said, "There's nothing like it, this time of year and when its over there is nothing that gets me excited anymore. I look forward to basketball season every year."

This years D-II opening round game added a little extra excitement to the Women's tournament season with the well know "Turnpike Tussle of Emporia State versus Washburn.

ESU fan Tanner Doty said, "Whenever these two schools get together it is great. Emporia fans love to travel, the feeling in this arena is electric."

KU and K-State fans will get that same NCAA tournament feeling next week and both are hoping for positive results.

Pam Lovell, an avid Jayhawks fan, said, "I just hope we can keep winning, thats what we are hoping for."

While Wildcat fan, Haley Colbern said, "I am excited for them to get into the tournament. I think we have a good chance, I think they can go far this year and do an amazing job."

In the end, only one team can come out on top. While these fans hope their team is crowned champion, win or lose, they sure will have a fun ride cheering them on.
