Obama Awards Father Kapaun The Medal Of Honor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Thursday, the Congressional Medal of Honor was awarded to Fr. Emil Kapaun’s family in recognition of the heroism he displayed during his service in the Korean War. Since 2009, the Kansas Congressional delegation has worked to award the Medal of Honor to Fr. Kapaun. U.S. Senators Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), who will both be attending the ceremony, released the following joint statement on the eve of the Medal of Honor ceremony:

“No one is more deserving of the Medal of Honor than Father Kapaun. His story of self-sacrifice is legendary, and he has inspired many with his unshakable faith and relentless courage. This honor is long overdue and we are pleased that Father Kapaun’s countless acts of heroism with finally be recognized with this distinguished award.”
