McLOUTH, Kan. (AP)--The northeast Kansas students who were in
Costa Rica when one of their classmates was killed recently, have
returned to Kansas.

The McLouth School District said in a release that the students
arrived back in Kansas late Friday.

Their classmate, high school senior Justin Johnston, was shot to
death at their hotel on Thursday. The students were on a nine-day
trip to the Central American nation. No other students were
injured.

Superintendent Steve Splichal said in a release that the
district was relieved to have the students home, and that the
district is ``extremely concerned'' for the Johnston family and the
other students and staff.

He said the district has been working with officials from the
U.S. State Department to gather information for the investigation
into Johnston's death.
