LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) -- The University of Kansas' Public Safety Office is asking for help finding a person they say robbed a KU student Monday evening.

The female student told officers she was on a swing set between Irving Hill Road and Stouffer Place Apartments around 8 p.m. Monday (10/15) when a man approached her. She says the man had a silver gun and demanded she give him her things. The woman told officers she gave the man a cell phone and iPod and he left.

She described the suspect as a black male, 6'2", 170 lbs. She said he was wearing a black ski mask and gray hoodie at the time.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (785) 864-8888, or the KU Public Safety Office at (785) 864-5900.

In light of this crime, KU's Public Safety Office wants to remind the community to report report any unusual people or activities to their office or local police; if you are the victim of a robbery, surrender your property to try to keep yourself safe from harm; walk in well-traveled and well-lit areas; and walk in groups or with a friend.
