KU Student Accused Of Rape At Residence Hall

LAWRNCE, Kan. (WIBW) -- A 19 year-old University of Kansas student was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly raping a fellow student at a residence hall on Tuesday.

Deon Antonius Tripp stands accused of attacking the 19 year-old woman, who was not identified, in Gertrude Sellards Pearson Hall between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Major Chris Keary, the Assistant Chief of Police Services for the KU Public Safety Office.

She contacted the the Public Safety Office around 9:00 p.m. that night and Tripp was arrested around 4:00 a.m. the next morning. The victim was taken to a local hospital for examination, but did not reportedly suffer any serious, physical injuries.

Keary added that both students had been acquaintances prior to the incident.
