KU Fraternity House Catches Fire

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) – Fire damaged a Lawrence fraternity house late Tuesday morning.

The University Daily Kansan reports the fire broke out in the Sigma Chi house around 11:30 a.m. They said smoke was coming from a third-floor window when crews arrived.

The Kansan noted about 74 Sigma Chi members live in the house and they all made it out safely. They were able to return to the home Tuesday evening, but four of whom will have to find new rooms.

Lawrence-Douglas Co. Fire told them the fire was out within an hour and contained to the third floor. The school said some bedrooms and a bathroom were damaged.

Its cause is under investigation.
