MANHATTAN (From KDOT) -- For K-State fans heading to Manhattan for this Saturday’s (November 3) Home Football Game, please take note of the following construction projects and traffic impacts that may impact your game day commute. Drivers should expect significant delays through the active project work zones and should allow plenty of extra time for game day commutes.

I-70:
From Topeka west to Manhattan:

K-STATE GAME DAY TRAFFIC: Westbound I-70 from Valencia Road to K-30 will be open to two lanes this Saturday, November 3! MOVING LANE CLOSURE: Westbound I-70 from Valencia Road to K-30 will have moving lane closures for pavement marking work on Friday, November 2 during daylight hours. This will be a mobile operation. All project work will be completed by Friday, November 9.

I-470:
From Topeka west to Manhattan:

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 WEEKEND LANE CLOSURE: Westbound I-470 left lane from 29th Street to 21st Street will be closed for joint and crack sealing work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2 and reopening to all traffic at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 4. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Sunday, November 4.

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 WEEKEND LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound I-470 left lane from 21st Street to the KTA South Toll Plaza will be closed for joint and crack sealing work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2 and reopening to all traffic at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Monday, November 5.

K-18
From the west to Manhattan:

EXPECT DELAYS! Eastbound and westbound K-18 from Ogden to Manhattan (Riley County) is reduced to one lane in each direction, 24/7 round the clock, for ongoing widening work. Traffic is directed through the project work zone via concrete barrier, signage and cones. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late fall 2013.

NEW! K-18 Traffic Switches:

Beginning mid-day on Thursday, November 1, traffic changes will take place on Scenic Drive and on Eureka Drive at K-18. K-18 traffic will remain in this configuration until mid-November 2012. **Traffic coming from Fort Riley will not be able to access Scenic Drive from Eureka Drive during this phasing of traffic. Traffic coming from Fort Riley to Scenic Drive will need to take K-18 east to Scenic Drive where they will then be able to take a left and go north on Scenic Drive.

Scenic Drive at K-18: The new Scenic Drive alignment will be open. Southbound Scenic Drive traffic will travel through the two roundabouts and over the bridge that spans K-18 to the existing K-18 lanes where they will then be able to turn right only towards Ogden. Eastbound K-18 traffic will now be able to turn left (or north) onto the new Scenic Drive as left turn lane on K-18 was installed. The shoofly detour that was in place for Scenic Drive will be closed.

Eureka Drive at K-18: Traffic heading east on Eureka Drive will only be able to make a right hand turn to head south on Skyway Drive to Murray Drive in the Business District area where they can then turn right westbound K-18. Eureka Drive traffic wishing to access eastbound K-18 will need to proceed west on K-18 to the 56th Street interchange where they can then get back on eastbound K-18 towards Manhattan.

From the east to Manhattan:

Eastbound and westbound K-18 from approximately one mile east of the city of Wabaunsee to K-99 will be closed to all traffic to replace the two bridges closest to K-99. The K-18 full closure over the two bridges will be 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Monday, September 10. A marked detour will be provided. Traffic will detour north on K-99, then west on US-24 and then back on K-18. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late fall 2013.

US-24:
From Topeka west to Manhattan:

Eastbound and westbound US-24 from Grantville Road to K-237 (Shawnee & Jefferson Counties) will be reduced to one lane each direction for pavement reconstruction work, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration. Traffic is directed through the project work zone via concrete barrier, signage and cones. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late July 2013.

Eastbound and westbound US-24 over the Bourbanis Creek and Ensign Creek bridges (located between Silver Lake and west of Rossville in Shawnee County) will be reduced to one lane for both directions, 24/7 round the clock, this weekend. Traffic is directed across both bridges via traffic signals at either end of the bridges. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2012.

US-75:

K-STATE GAME DAY TRAFFIC: Northbound and southbound US-75 from Soldier Creek to I-70 will be open to two lanes of traffic each direction on Saturday, November 3 Game Day! EXPECT DELAYS!

LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound from Soldier Creek to I-70 (north of Topeka) will be reduced to one lane for paving work daily, Monday-Friday. Work hours are as follows: Northbound US-75 will be reduced to one lane from 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. the following day and all northbound lanes will be open to unrestricted traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.

Southbound US-75 will be reduced to one lane from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following day and all southbound lanes will be open to unrestricted traffic from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. each day. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2012.
